finally realised that my camera settings for my flash were on sync 1/15 rather than 1/60. Hence the halo pictures that I've been getting. Fixed now :-)

the darker backgrounds with the flash full on, the lighter backgrounds with the flash bounced off the low ceiling

Most of these pictures were taken at a low shutter speed. This gave great ambient light, but the pictures were mostly not too sharp due to camera shake. All in all, not so successful. Next time stick to at least 1/30 sec but preferably 1/60 sec especially at the longer focal length and pumping up the ISO 1600 giving much better results!

Raphael takes pictures of Natan (and Ayala) with his new lens, playing with a very shallow depth of field and using natural window light where possible. A reflector was used in the later pictures. In the last 30 odd pictures, I used manual white balance using a white surface and started to change the aperture to 2.2, then 2.8.

As an early birthday present, my lovely wife, Ayala, bought me this very fast prime lens which allows pictues with little or no flash.
Most of these pictures are without flash using only available window light. Being very early in the morning and winter, there wasn't much light, but the lens coped. (Of course I've hidden the blurred pictures)
